Recreating The Kiss

AGNSW - SPECIAL PROJECT

To promote and celebrate the first time Rodin’s iconic sculpture ‘The Kiss’ had ever traveled to Australian shores, Art Gallery of NSW in partnership with Tate London commissioned a one of a kind project inspired by one big question: Is nudity in art still relevant today?

To answer this question, we enlisted the help of seven real couples of all shapes, sizes and sexual orientations to pose nude and recreate the iconic pose using 3D printing technology. The sculptures were exhibited as a part of the AGNSW Nude exhibition and were accompanied by documentary and art films interviewing the couples and examining contemporary attitudes to nudity in art.
